Description:
Junior Arts Academy, the Arkansas Arts Centers annual summer program, provides both visual and theatrical arts instruction. The 2013 session culminates with Play & Display where budding artists show off the work they have created and, as young thespians, they perform original short plays based on the theme of the Academy.
This year’s theme is Amazing Artists! We have always known that artists lead interesting lives. This summer your child will learn the intriguing, humorous, and sometimes just plain odd details about these famous people we know as artists. Students will be introduced to a new artist each day. We will look at their works, styles, and things that made them unforgettable.
Students will create their own individual art using some of these techniques and subject matter. Students will also become actors in plays concerning these famous artists. We will also tour the special exhibition Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Gainsborough: The Treasures of the Ken-wood House, London where we will see actual pieces done by some of these famous artists.
Registration is limited. Due to the popularity of this program, it is recommended that you register early to ensure your child’s place in the Academy. Tuition is to be paid in full at time of registration. Payment plans available. Register at the Art Classes page.
