On December 8th, Wal-Mart will join forces with The Salvation Army of Hot Springs for the nonprofit's first “Fill the Truck” Toy and Coat Drive.
The organization scheduled the event for Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., as a way to supplement their long standing Angel Tree program. The Salvation Army hopes to use this program along with Angel Tree to reach about 1,100 children in the local area.
Customers visiting the Wal-Mart Store at 4019 Central Ave. during the “Fill the Truck” event will receive a “wish list” from a Salvation Army volunteer. Shoppers who want to participate can purchase items from the list to fill a waiting truck with toys and coats. These will then be distributed by The Salvation Army to children in their immediate service area.
